MARIANA ACADEMY PIONEERS NEW SERVICES
Seafarers and trainees may be fed-up with taking down notes, pinching themselves awake over monotonous, jargon-filled lectures supposed to help them survive in the maritime industry.
To the rescue comes the Mariana Academy of Maritime Studies (MARIANA) with a unique and comprehensive Review Center for deck and engine management and OIC for career development. It offers an initial assessment which guarantees tension-free, convenient and a more structured review, to be launched this July.
Another project are two programs on professional development: Seafarer Career Enhancement Program (SCEP) and Seafarer Career Advanced Program (SCAP), brainchild of Ms. Glendalyn Demaria herself, president of MARIANA.
The SCEP is for new graduates, the assurance of MARIANA to compensate for the lack of actual experience on board, important to new graduates. SCEP promises a higher level of experience, knowledge and skills in basic and normal operations for “experiential learning” thru simulation. The program bridges the gap of what is lacking before going on board.
The SCAP is levelling up for newly-passed officers and junior officers with shipboard exposure as it deals with trouble shooting and analytical problem solving.
MARIANA is a leading assessment center that identifies weakness and strength, crafting programs given free to early trainees. Some fifty cadets and officers have successfully completed the SCAP and SCEP pilot programs on the dry-run.
In the backburner is a major contract for exclusive distribution by Mariana Academy in the Philippines and Southeast Asia of cutting-edge simulators. As soon as ink dries on mandatory papers, the agreement may be signed this July in China.
Mr. Yuzhu Zhang strongly endorses MARIANA as exclusive distributor of simulator products jointly manufactured by Dalian Maritime University and Zhilong (Dalian) Marine Technology which include simulators on Ship Handling, Radar, ECDIS and GMDSS.
MARIANA is an independent training institution offering full technical Training, Review and Assessment for Deck and Engine departments, hospitality and catering management courses for seafarers and hoteliers accredited by MARINA and TESDA. MARIANA is recognized by the Dept of Education (DepEd) for senior high school. Majority of its first batch of graduates for School Year 2018-2019 passed the 2019-2020 PMMA and MAAP entrance examinations.
Established just in 2013, phenomenal growth is seen as Mariana occupies the ground floor, 7th, 8th, 14th floors and rooftop of the G.E. Antonino building in Kalaw, Ermita, hub of aspiring merchant mariners.
