JBLFMU Graduate School Project: GLOBE MARITIME HOSTS ENVIRONMENTAL SEMINAR

On May 25th at Wawang Pulo, Valenzuela City, Globe Maritime Training Center hosted the Maritime Safety Awareness Program, a project of John B Lacson Foundation Maritime University (Arevalo) - Graduate School, Manila Extension.
The theme Conservation of Marine Environment Through Safety Awareness and Actions, the seminar was led by Dr. Rodolfo Ceballos, JBLFMU Graduate School National Coordinator with his classes in three (3) post-graduate degrees: Doctor of Philosophy in Maritime Education (Ph.D ME), Master in Ship Management (MSM) and Master in Maritime Management (MMM).
The one-day event had about 20 participants inclusive of Pasig River ferry operators, Coast Guard (PCG), Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) and National Coast-watch Council Secretariat (NCWCS).
Resource speakers were from Doctoral and Masteral classes, viz:
- Lt. Cmdr. Ariel Constantino, NCWCS, on Personal Survival Technique and Social Responsibility
- Capt. Cesario Cornejo Jr., Pres-USMTC, on Maritime Pollution
- C/O Alexander Alcantara and 2/O Junel Cajurao, on Collision Regulations
- C/E Ronald Pereṅa, VP-2GO, on Engine Operation
- C/E Gilbert Milana, Pres-Globe Maritime, on Engine Operation and Troubleshooting
Other speakers from Globe Maritime were C/M Jeram Nipolo (Firefighting) and Ms. Riechelle Andasan (Emergency First Aid).
Milana underscored the team-up with JBLFMU and agencies like NCWCS, MARINA, PCG and MMDA “… will give great advantage to the participants” gaining competence and malasakit, (concern) to our environment and natural resources.
Globe Maritime seeks to fulfil the growing demand for competent and responsible seafarers through innovative training that meets expectation of global employers. The JBLFMU-GS Manila Extension includes MARINA Director for Planning Emmanuel Carpio, Baliwag Maritime Academy Assistant Dean Marvic Francisco and TIP Program Chair for BSMarE Marcelo Yarte.
