PMMA was founded in 1820 as a school for marine officers, then Escuela Nautica de Manila, the first in Asia.
It has produced major pillars of the maritime industry: shipowners, corporate executives and management partners; icons in maritime education, training and review centers; advocates for reforms in maritime labor, benefits, equal opportunity and equality.
